Thomson wins Best Paper Award
9/29/2009
The similarity between the spread of a virus and information in a distributed system gave birth to new communication protocols called epidemic algorithms, known to be surprisingly simple and efficient. A joint team between Thomson and EPFL recently went a step further: they showed that the propagation of a continuous sequence of new information, as news website or blogs, in a mobile network obeys a simple equilibrium. This work received the best paper award at the ACM SIGMETRICS conference and is featured in the Research Digest, 2nd Edition.
