Research Tuned to the Needs of Content Creators and Content Consumption

Research and innovation at Thomson is structured in three programs:  3D & Content Coding, Workflow & Content Access, and Home Networking - the building blocks underlining Thomson’s business. Each of these focused programs encompasses critical mass projects, concentrating expertise in compression, networking, signal acquisition & processing and security technologies on key technical challenges. These projects are tuned to the foreseeable needs of content creators and content consumption and are complemented by speculative, far-looking research conducted in a limited set of targeted exploratory projects.  These exploratory projects address scientific and technical discontinuities that could significantly impact Thomson’s current and future business activities.  In addition, Thomson’s researchers keep abreast of the scientific community’s global evolution by immersion in academic research and cooperative programs. These collaborations with top academic researchers enable Thomson to create and foster partnerships on the most promising technologies.

Corporate Research at Thomson is dedicated to inventing and developing the technologies that will improve today’s solutions, deliver tomorrow’s innovations and challenge the science of media creation and its consumption.
