Technicolor Participates in Green Media Summit

Stephan Corti, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Home Entertainment Services, spoke at last week’s Green Media Summit in Los Angeles.

The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) presented the event as the first in a series of events aimed at educating the studio and entertainment communities about environmentally friendly options for the delivery of digital entertainment media.

Corti spoke about the opportunity to monetize environmental initiatives and Technicolor’s own “green” initiatives, including ISO 14001 compliance at its global facilities and steps the company is taking to reduce its carbon dioxide footprint .

On a broader scale, Corti discussed the need to partner with non-governmental organizations and environment experts to identify cost-effective, environmentally-friendly alternatives to the DVD product life cycles. This includes implementing a life cycle assessment to measure the environmental impact of DVD production and ultimately reduce economic, technological, and environmental costs associated with production.

For the home entertainment community, it also means developing an industry-wide green standard and setting industry-wide goals as it accelerates its leadership in adopting environmental best practices.
