Elliott’s story

A native of Boston, Elliott has had a passion for film and television as far back as he can remember. He started his career working in production at a local cable television station when he was just 14 years old.

Now with over 20 years of experience designing, cutting and supervising film sound, Elliott joined Technicolor after working on the new stages at Paramount on the film Ted.
It is difficult for Elliott to pinpoint just one career highlight, but the British Academy Award nomination for Collateral and spending time in London with the team ranks high on the list. Gavin O’Connor’s Miracle ranks high too because it merged Elliott’s two true passions - sound and hockey.  Elliot explains, “Gavin tasked us with making the best sounding sports movie ever, and I believe we did not let him down.”

For every feature he works on, Elliott draws inspiration from the director. He takes his cues from the way the director influences the emotions of the audience and adjusts his sound-design style to fit those needs. “That’s where the art meets the craft,” says Koretz, “sometimes violently, in the form of a body check.”

When Elliott is not working, he likes to travel and can be labeled a bit of a foodie.  To keep the pounds off, he plays golf and softball.  And when he’s not trying to prove that “he’s still got it”, he can be found hanging out with his wife, two children, two birds and his dog.
