Projects:

I am currently focusing on the extension of HEVC to the support for High Dynamic Range Video Compression.

Short Bio :

I graduated from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne in 1996. From 1996 to 1997, I did my national service at « Groupe d’Etudes Sous Marines de l’Atlantique », on SONAR pictures matching using artificial intelligence techniques.

I received a Ph.D. degree in Signal and Image processing from Université de Rennes 1, in 2000, on Scalable and Packet Loss Resilient Video Coding. I joined Canon Research Centre France in 2001, where I worked as a research engineer in the field of scalable video compression (HEVC, H.264/SVC), scalable video streaming, and JPEG20000 part 9 standardization (JPeg2000 Interactive Protocol, JPIP).

I’ve been working at Technicolor since April 2013, where I am focusing on High Dynamic Range Video Compression.

I am co-author of about 110 patent proposals and several contributions to JVT, JCTVC, MPEG and JPEG2000 standardization bodies.

Research Interests:

  • Video Compression (HEVC, H.264/AVC, H.263+, MPEG4-Part2)
  • Scalable Video Coding  (SHVC, H.264/SVC)
  • High-Dynamic Range Video Coding
  • Rate Distortion Optimization in standard video and image compression systems
  • Wavelet-Based image/video coding (JPEG2000, EZW, SPIHT, …)
  • Scalable Video Streaming over IP
  • Rate Control
  • Joint Source/Channel Video Coding
