Paris, France & Hollywood, California – April 5, 2011 - Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH) and PureBlend Software Design Group today announced their partnership to launch Technicolor MovieSlate, an on-location production App targeted at facilitating digital production by aggregating relevant data onto a unified platform.
The initiative brings together Technicolor’s heritage of innovation in production services with PureBlend’s industry leading production slate application for tablet devices. The Technicolor MovieSlate App will be launched during the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada April 11-14.
Technicolor and PureBlend will bring to market a unique set of tools to facilitate and further simplify the transition to file-based workflows on motion picture, broadcast and commercial advertising productions. The companies will continue to advance filmmakers’ ability to leverage “un-tethered” tablet devices for integration into the processes of pre-production and principal photography.
“There is an ever increasing amount of meta-data generated on production sets during principal photography,” stated Technicolor’s chief marketing officer, Ahmad Ouri. “Technicolor’s Movie Slate App will assuredly help filmmakers and the various craft departments mine that data, generate reports, and allow the entire production to benefit from the efficiencies that this new comprehensive application brings.”
“We’re pleased to be working with Technicolor,” stated PureBlend founder and CEO, Cliff Joyce. “Working with the industry’s leader in production and post services can only help to ensure that Movie Slate will be in the hands of the industry’s best filmmakers and production crews.”
Mining on-set meta-data such as photography time-code, camera settings, sound metadata, and even crucial notations from script supervision can now easily be integrated with the vital information generated by the production’s digital imaging technicians (DIT’s).
Technicolor’s operations team has worked with PureBlend on the development of MovieSlate’s comprehensive user interface to facilitate the adaption of the App. The two companies will continue to develop new and advanced functionality of the Technicolor MovieSlate to further aide the generation of camera, sound and editorial reports.
The Technicolor MovieSlate app will be demonstrated during the upcoming NAB broadcast convention in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday, April 12th, as part of the Final Cut Pro Users Group SuperMeet presentations at Bally’s Event Center, from 4:30 p.m. to midnight.
MovieSlate will also be demonstrated by PureBlend at the HandHeldHollywood booth at SuperMeet.
