Technicolor’s UK-based facility, Anvil Post Production, is proud to have provided the sound post for director Lone Scherfig’s film “An Education”. Working closely with Oscar nominated sound designer Glenn Freemantle, Anvil’s re-recording mixers - Gareth Bull, Richard Straker and Adam Mendez –produced the Dolby Digital final mix, as well as recording the Foley and ADR.
Released in the U.S. by Sony Pictures Classics and in the UK by E1 Films, “An Education” won the Audience and Cinematography Awards at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was enthusiastically received by an audience of 2,000 at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year. Automatic Dialogue Replacement (ADR) describes the process of re-recording an actor's lines spoken during filming and which need to be replaced to improve audio quality or reflect dialogue changes.
Foley describes the process of live recording of sound effects which are added in post production to enhance the quality of audio for films and TV. "Foley" gets its name from Jack Donovan Foley (1891-1967), a sound editor at Universal Studios who became famous for his advancements in synchronized sound effects.
