A trip to the moon

The color version of the Georges Méliès' masterpiece, Le Voyage dans la Lune (A Trip to the Moon), is now visible again, 109 years after its first release (1902). Considered as lost, this color version has been found in 1993 in Barcelona.

In 2010, a complete restoration conducted by Lobster Films, Groupama Gan Foundation for Cinema and Technicolor Foundation for Cinema heritage.

Digital tools available today could enable re-assemble the fragments of the 13,375 frames of the film in order to restore them, one by one. The film will be premiered in May 2011 with an original soundtrack by the French band AIR.
