Filmmaker Clint Eastwood’s new drama, J. Edgar, stars Leonardo DiCaprio as FBI director J. Edgar Hoover; a ruthless character that presided over the agency for nearly four decades -- and remains one of the most controversial figures in twentieth century American history.
The film premiered at the AFI Film Festival on November 3rd, and rolls-out theatrically across North America the following week on November 11th.
J. Edgar boasts a stellar supporting cast, led by Judi Dench, Naomi Watts and Armie Hammer, and is scripted by Dustin Lance Black. The film was photographed by Tom Stern, ASC, AFC, Mr. Eastwood’s cinematographer. Principally filmed at Warner Bros. Burbank studio, the feature covers four decades in Hoover’s life. Joel Cox and Gary Roach served as the film’s editors. Rob Lorenz, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are the film’s producers.
Technicolor’s Jill Bogdanowicz worked closed with Stern overseeing the film’s “look” – slightly de-saturated colors with rich blacks. Other services performed by Technicolor include: the film’s front-end negative processing, from Technicolor’s new Glendale-based laboratory; digital dailies performed at our Hollywood imaging facility; final color-grading, digital cinema and feature mastering.
