Technicolor supplied its expertise for Director Michael Bay’s anticipated new summer release, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Our Creative Services team in Hollywood (Sunset Boulevard) and North Hollywood completed the Technicolor 3D image processing and filmout for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The team created 70mm IMAX-3D prints for the film, boasting massive prints, each topping over 110,000 feet in length.
More than 325 Technicolor 3D prints were released worldwide. Of which, we provided printing for Spain, Italy and Germany.
Additionally, we delivered the digital mastering and distribution for Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Bay captured Transformers: Dark of the Moon in a unique method, choosing to shoot the film in 3D during production, rather than converting the footage in post as is customary, allowing him to create an exclusively 3D experience for audiences.
Paramount’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, cast hot names including: Shia LaBeouf, John Malkovich, Patrick Dempsey and Frances McDormand.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon was released in the U.S. June 29 and internationally on July 1. The film grossed $266,944,138 as of July 11, claiming the position of the highest grossing domestic release of the year to date.
