Workflow & Content Access

Developed to complete solutions for editing and archiving systems including restoration and color processing, this technology creates a reliable high throughput solutions for restoration (scratches, dirt, color correction, drop-outs...), enhances valorization of assets, enables a quality survey of existing catalogues, and enables/improves content analysis for feature extraction.

Due to the prohibitive costs of video restoration, broadcasters and film studios lose significant revenue every year by not monetizing millions of hours of content in their archives.  This is because in the past, video restoration has been a slow, expensive and time-consuming task--despite various restoration software claims of “automatic” operations.

Currently, most of the restoration tools in the marketplace provide limited support for the automatic detection and automatic removal of artifacts. However, new algorithms invented by Technicolor have created a revolution in digital restoration for video.

Semantic Metadata Empowers Media Clients

The objective of this program is to greatly improve and advance the areas of presentation, search, and access of content by thoroughly understanding the needs of global content creators—both through profiling and recommendation.

One important area of focus is to simplify and advance the process of storage, search, and accessing of various content (audio, video, and computer generated) through contextual and semantic metadata.

Through this program, Technicolor is focused on delivering efficient technologies for both the creation and management workflows of any type of Audio Visual content. This includes 2D, 3D Computer Generated Images (CGI), Mixed-Reality, Visual effects (VFX) and Games.

Ultimately, this will help a greater number of our customers shift to digital production tools.

New Techniques for Content Restoration, Content Preparation, Structuring and Repurposing

Technicolor has developed a myriad of new techniques to further enhance content management for the Media, Entertainment, and Communication industries.

This includes semantic metadata generation and indexing for more efficient content restoration, structuring, content preparation and repurposing.

The program includes two main projects:

  • Content Production Workflows
  • Mixed Reality
