Jean Bolot

Lab Director

Location:Los Altos

Laboratory:Personalization Lab

Short Bio:

I am the director of the Technicolor research center in Palo Alto. The goal of the lab is to create and develop the next generation of personalized experiences, starting with TV and movie experiences.

Prior to Technicolor, I ran the research lab of Sprint where I led and conducted research in large scale cell phone data mining, focusing in particular on mining social network and location data. Before Sprint, I was a founding team member of Ensim, a Silicon Valley startup in the area of virtualization and data center automation software. Before Ensim, I was a visiting professor in Computer Science at UC Berkeley and a researcher at INRIA in France.

My specific research interests center around networks, their users, and the data they generate. Most recently, my work has focused on the economics of user data, on advertising and on opinion formation in the presence of recommendation systems.
