Lionel Oisel

Principal Scientist

Location:Rennes

Laboratory:Imaging Science Lab

What's new:

We are launching a new activity on content aware video processing strongly linked to the Technicolor context (e.g. film restoration, post-production). We are also investigating new ways to model the human perception of audio-visual contents.

Short Bio:

Lionel Oisel received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Rennes I in 1998. He joined Technicolor in 2000 and is now principal scientist in this company. He is also in charge of a project, of approximately 30 people, dealing with multimedia analysis for the improvement of the content production workflow (from creation to consumption). This project includes video restoration, content enrichment and content recommendation technologies. His research interests include multimodal video indexing, object recognition and object retrieval.  He is co-author of more than 40 patents.

Research interests:

Image processing (video indexing, motion estimation),Computer vision & robotics (disparity map, self-calibration, 3D  reconstruction, stochastic models, visual servoing,  Pattern recognition and machine learning (data classification and clustering, object detection and recognition), Multimodal analysis (joint audio-visual analysis)

Projects:

  • Content Enhancement (video restoration)
  • Content Enrichment (content editing, content aware processing)
  • Extended Video (large scale indexing, NLP, content clustering, Ontology)
  • Metadata Workflow (optimized metadata schema, workflow analysis)
  • Advanced Watermarking and fingerprinting (both audio and video)
  • Human perception (saliency model, image aesthetics)
