Meet Nico Ilies, Head of Colorists at Technicolor Montreal.

Key player in the Technicolor team since 2003 and head-colorist of the digital intermediate division, Nico Ilies brings an impressive portfolio to the task. From Paris to Munich, Toronto to LA , this master of color has traveled the world in pursuit of excellence in his field and made Montreal his home .

His teachers are his clients and he considered himself very fortunate to have the chance to work with so many creative artists . Seeing his work as a form of art, Nico draws creative inspiration from art, photography and design books. If he has to names that inspired him, that would be Robert Frank, Bruce Davidson, Todd Hido, Jan Saudek, Joel Meyerowitz, John J. Muth, Philip-Lorca di Corcia or Edward Hopper.

Winner of many awards including the daVinci Master Colorist of the Year 2004 for his work on Confession of a Dangerous Mind, Nico is the artist behind the look of renowned Quebec films such as Memoire affective, Le dernier tunnel, Saint-Martyres-des-Damnes 10 1/2 , La Cite , Cadavres , A l'origine d' un cri, Une vie qui commence  and Le Vendeur.  His films credits also include Hollywood titles such as The AviatorThe Greatest Game Ever Played  and The Fountain, for which, working together with the DOPs ,he was part of establishing  the color script.

Nico has also explored new frontiers in 3D on the chinese classic The Monkey King 3D and is currently working now on the highly anticipated  3D movie Le magasin des suicides from Patrice Leconte.
