Ross Cole

Senior Colorist

Location:Technicolor Toronto

Meet Ross Cole, Senior Colorist at Technicolor Toronto.

Throughout his 30 year career Ross has worked on numerous features, TV series, commercials and has also done cinema finishing for DI projects.

Over the course of his 16 years at Technicolor, Ross has had a number of memorable experiences, but one of the finest was having Liza Minnelli hold his arm and sing in his ear while he was working on one of her projects. Some of the best career advice Ross has ever gotten was to “listen carefully” and in this instance it was very easy.

Ross finds inspiration from the work of a wide range of artists, including: Italian master Caravaggio; cinematographer John Alton; director Franklin J. Schaffner; and the musician George Harrison. Schaffner directed Ross’s favorite film Islands in the Stream starring George C. Scott and based on the Hemingway novel of the same name. Ross is also a fan of James Bond and has a particular affinity for SpongeBob Squarepants’ signature laugh.

Ross is an avid sailor and pilot, and one of his proudest moments was flying a perfect fighter break for landing in a WWII plane after a long flight to Texas. Back at work, Ross enjoys exploring new camera systems like the Arri Alexa and seeing how he and his fellow colorists can augment the images with DaVinci Resolve systems and Autodesk “Lustre”
