Meet Vince Amari, Digital Restoration Colorist at Technicolor Montreal.

Vince Amari has 25 years of color correction experience behind him. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York. After starting his career as a colorist at Astral, he joined Technicolor 19 years ago. Over that time, he has color corrected countless films, television series, music videos and commercials. His proudest professional moment was at the premier of a CBC documentary called Breaking Point, which he color-corrected.

Vince’s favorite piece of technology is his computer, because it facilitates maximum creativity with very few restrictions. He is excited to see the development of other technologies, such as the Internet and video streaming. “I’m also very interested in visual arts technology - anything that improves what we see and how we see it, whether on a 2D or 3D platform,” he says. While he keeps up with the tools of the trade, he claims that when it comes to work, his most useful tools are his hands!

A number of activities keep Vince busy when he’s away from work. For one, he is a Net Neutrality activist, and a supporter of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). He also likes to work on his computer, listen to music and read. His book of the moment is Lawrence Lessig’s The Future of Ideas.
