22nd Edition of CamerImage

 

The 22nd edition of the world’s only festival devoted to the achievements of cinematographers (across its full-spectrum of theatrical features, documentaries as well as music videos) brings together a gathering of working (as well as emerging) cameramen and camerawomen to honor the very best – with a full slate of competitions, seminars, demonstrations, and impromptu meetings along with formal dinners.  This year, Technicolor is honored to be hosting one of the festival’s official dinners, while earlier in the day conducting a seminar featuring some of the brightest minds from the ranks of working Directors of Photography, and moderated by journalist/filmmaker Iain Marcks.  

 

Birdman elicited cheering from the festival audience for cinematographer Emanuel Lubezki, ASC, AMC, whose stunning accomplishment with this film (and for his illustrious career of achievements) was fostered by Technicolor’s stellar color-finishing team.  

 

Another unique sidebar of this year’s edition of CamerImage is a tribute to filmmakers Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger – whose career achievements represent many of the most important Technicolor films in motion picture history.  The special tribute was organized by Thelma Schoomaker, ACE, and journalist/film historian Ian Christie.
