Technicolor Montreal provides sound and picture post-production on Louis Cyr: The Strongest Man in the World
Sound and picture post-production on Louis Cyr

Technicolor Montreal is proud to have provided post production and distribution services for the Quebec film about 19th-century French Canadian strongman Louis Cyr, billed as the strongest man in the world. The film was produced by Christal Films Productions & Gaëa Films and distributed by Les Films Christal.

Alongside Christian Larouche and Daniel Roby, Technicolor’s artists and artisans worked on dailies, colour correction, sound editing, sound mixing and theatrical distribution. Their talent and expertise contributed greatly to the creation of Louis Cyr: The Strongest Man in the World. The film was released on July 12th, 2013 in over 100 movie theatres in Quebec.

Technicolor first processed data from the shoot (filmed with an Alexa digital camera) to deliver digital files to the VFX teams from Oblique and dailies to the production team.

Technicolor’s artists then worked on online editing, by François Massé, and colour grading, by  the awarded colorist Nico Ilies (The Legend of Sarila, All That You Possess, Karakara, For the Love of God, The Salesman). Mr. Ilies previously worked with Nicolas Bolduc on the post-production of City of Shadows, which received the CSC Award for best cinematography in a theatrical feature. Mr. Ilies, Mr. Bolduc and Mr. Roby worked together to produce the highly characteristic visual looks of the film, which transported viewers back to the end of the 19th century.

Stéphane Bergeron (Wetlands, La Cicatrice and The Salesman) handle the sound mix on Louis Cyr, assisted by Isabelle Lussier, according to the sound design of Martin Pinsonneault and sound editing of Christian Rivest. It was Stephane’s second collaboration with Director Daniel Roby.

Louis Cyr netted almost $3, 5 million since its release in July.
