Superhero Dinosaurs Will Discover Their Powers In Technicolor

Technicolor is developing and producing a new children’s comedy adventure series, Supersaurus 7.
  • The creators are working with Technicolor to bring characters to life that kids can identify with.

Technicolor has optioned the rights to Supersaurus 7, an animated children’s series featuring the world’s first superhero dinosaurs. Set on a reimagined, prehistoric Earth, Supersaurus 7 follows their comedic adventures after a mysterious blue lava transforms them into superheroes – each armed with a superpower that amplifies their dinosaur traits. Working together while learning to use their new powers, they become an indomitable force.

Technicolor will develop and produce Supersaurus 7 after optioning the rights from its creators, Chris Hayward and Henry Coate. Hayward co-developed the BBC web series Misery Bear and was the writer on the BAFTA-nominated CBBC series FIT, among many other television comedy writing credits. Coate, a creative director, designer and illustrator, has worked on a variety of memorable projects, ranging from the Alan Partridge-themed Christmas Lights, to a 30-meter giant parrot for Monty Python Live and a life-size T-Rex for National Geographic.

"Chris and Henry have created an original concept in a much loved genre that we haven’t yet seen in children’s entertainment – dinosaurs as superheroes – two themes that kids everywhere have always loved,” commented Alison Warner, VP of IP Sales, Acquisitions & Co-Productions. “We believe that viewers will identify with our characters, who are in effect just kids learning to handle their new skills, while taking on some of the strangest foes ever seen in a prehistoric world. It’s a perfect blend of action and comedy to engage and thrill our audience.”

"We are thrilled to be working with Technicolor and are striving to make Supersaurus 7 super-exciting and ridiculously funny, so children across the world will laugh, cheer...and roar," added Hayward and Coate in a joint statement.
