Technicolor was the sole film production company at the Red Carpet Show of the 15th annual Shanghai International Film Festival held between June 16th and June 24th 2012

Technicolor was the sole film production company at the Red Carpet Show of the 15th annual Shanghai International Film Festival held between June 16th and June 24th 2012.  On June 17, Technicolor spoke at one of the main Industrial Forums of SIFF.

The gathering marked an occasion for luminaries from the international film industry to share their perspectives on how to take China’s film industry to the next level. Discussions focused on how to maintain the robust growth experienced by China’s film industry throughout 2011, and how to build the Far-East Dream Factory. Joining Technicolor at the event were celebrities, financial experts, investors, experts in transnational cooperation, and renowned filmmakers.

China’s film industry is poised to experience rapid growth in content production, film transmission, and postproduction, and in order for that growth to be successful, it will need not only the talent to do the work, but also access to advanced film technology.  Technicolor has partnered with the Shanghai Film Group (SFG) in a joint venture to help build a cutting-edge, high-tech base in Asia.  Dubbed the SFG-Technicolor Film Technology Co., this venture will provide industry-leading video production, management, and delivery solutions for the Chinese motion-picture market, while also meeting the demands of the overseas marketplace.

Access to the most advanced film technology is vital for the growth of the Chinese film market, and Technicolor has been a major player in introducing advanced production technologies, established workflows, and mature operating modes to filmmakers and producers in Beijing and Shanghai.  For the last five years, Technicolor has also been sending experts from Hollywood to China to help local teams complete the production of several films. We have also hosted Chinese film professionals overseas, providing them with training in advanced filmmaking techniques and helping to foster the talents of the next generation of filmmakers working in China.

Through the collaborative work of the SFG-Technicolor Film Technology Co., Chinese filmmakers will have access to film production and distribution resources, as well as the industry-leading services Technicolor offers clients worldwide. With the help of Technicolor’s comprehensive industry chain, the Far-East Dream Factory is becoming a reality.
