Technicolor raises the bar for Kudos in ITV's Law and Order: UK

Senior Colourist Dan Coles delivers the series’ distinctive strong and contemporary look

Technicolor has completed grading the latest series of ITV’s highly- successful crime drama, Law and Order: UK.

The British version of the long-running US franchise, Law and Order UK, produced by Kudos Productions sees the return of Bradley Walsh (Coronation Street, The Old Curiosity Shop) as the lively and loveable detective DS Ronnie Brooks, and Peter Davison (Doctor Who) as the respected Director of the Crown Prosecution Service, Henry Sharpe.

Joining the cast for series seven are Georgia Taylor (Casualty, Lewis) as the straight-talking Crown Prosecutor Kate Barker, and Paterson Joseph (Peep Show, The Hollow Crown) as DI Wes Leyton.

Law & Order: UK follows the dilemmas, frustrations and victories of a team of detectives and prosecutors, whose sole aim is to deliver justice for the people of London, as they take cases through investigation, arrest, negotiation and trial.

Technicolor Senior Colourist Dan Coles created the perfect atmosphere for the series, which he graded using Baselight. Coles said: “We wanted to create a warm and rich feel for the series while maintaining a naturalistic, filmic quality. The grading was designed to complement both the on-location and studio scenes, with vignettes and varying amounts of contrast used to emphasise mood. This included a warm golden hue for the courtroom scenes and cool blues, greens and cyans for the interview rooms and police station. This, together with accentuating some of the flare from the sun and artificial light sources, gives Law & Order UK a very strong and contemporary look.”

Law and Order UK airs on ITV1 on the 14th of July, for more information visit http://www.kudos.co.uk/productions/detail/law-order-uk/6
