Technicolor’s Steve Scott Discusses The Opportunity For HDR In Film Creation

Supervising Finishing Artist Steve Scott shares his thoughts on using next-generation technologies to enable the future of storytelling.

Steve Scott, an award-winning supervising finishing artist with Technicolor, discusses HDR (High Dynamic Range) and the opportunity the technology provides storytellers with to create more immersive experiences in film.

Of HDR, Steve says, “[It’s] like you’re looking through a window.  I’ve never seen stuff look better.  Once you see it, there’s no contest.”

A regular collaborator with Academy Award winning cinematographers and directors, Steve has won six Hollywood Post Alliance Awards for outstanding color grading for his work on films including Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and Gravity.  Additionally he has led the finishing on films such as The Birth of a Nation, The Revenant, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
