Technicolor set-top boxes are best-in-class for low energy consumption

Technicolor MediaPlay set-top boxes (STBs) are best-in-class for low energy consumption as highlighted in the global Independent Inspector report related to VIA applications.

Since 2009, Technicolor has been one of the most active companies in the industry in setting up a self-regulation entitled: “Voluntary Industry Agreement to improve the energy consumption of Complex STBs within the EU (VIA).”

In 2011, important steps were taken towards introducing low energy STBs due to the effective application for the first time of this self-regulation (VIA).

Consequently, in accordance with its commitment (as a VIA signatory), Technicolor has delivered the first report on energy consumption for its STBs to an “Independent Inspector (II)” at the end of 2011.

The report from the Independent Inspector, available since mid-2012, demonstrated that more than 90% of Technicolor STBs are exceeding the performance levels currently required and are already compliant in advance of performance limits applicable in July 2013.
