Technicolor to Deliver Telepresence Solution for Future Comcast HD Video Conferencing Offering

Telepresence Enables HD Video Conferencing through TV Sets

Paris (France) & Hollywood (California) – July 28, 2011 – Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH) today announces it will deliver a custom-developed telepresence adapter to Comcast designed to deliver high-definition video conferencing (calling) through TV sets.

Technicolor’s telepresence solution is designed to enable Comcast to deliver an interactive video calling experience to their subscribers using existing set top boxes and TV sets as well as wireless LAN networks.

“As we were planning to create an HD video conferencing service offering for our subscribers, we engaged Technicolor to design and develop the adapter based on their successful track record delivering custom-built solutions, and their ability to develop innovative products in a cost-effective, timely and seamless manner,” said Steve Reynolds, senior vice president of home networking for Comcast.

Barbara Bessolo, Senior vice president of Technicolor’s set top box division, said, “We are pleased to have been chosen by Comcast to custom build this new telepresence device,  We are focused on designing and delivering innovative and cutting edge products to meet our customer’s precise requirements.”

Mark Samuel, General manager of the set top box business unit at Trident Microsystems, Inc., who provides the product’s semiconductor solution, added, “Trident's semiconductor solutions deliver the web-based technologies, video processing, 3D graphics and superior picture quality that Comcast and Technicolor required for the next generation devices.  The emergence of high-definition video conferencing from the home television set is a major step towards a truly connected home and we are excited to be at the forefront of this consumer electronics innovation.”

Technicolor’s telepresence adapter includes an HDMI input and output, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, RF4CE control, external USB and SD card slot, and an integrated external camera and microphone.  Comcast first demonstrated the telepresence offering at The Cable Show 2011 in Chicago in June, and has announced it plans to conduct market trials later this year.
