McDSP Profiles Presents Technicolor’s Dror Mohar and His Journey to Supervising Sound Editor

From growing up in Africa, where the rhythm of music is a constant, and where he naturally gravitated toward musicianship as a singer/guitarist in a band, then from roadie to monitor engineer, from live to studio work, and eventually to recording studios in the US – Dror Mohar recounts his journey from his early start in audio to where he is today working on major studio features such as Patriots Day, Deepwater Horizon, and The Greatest Showman. Nominated for a Golden Reel award this past February for The Babysitter (for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing’), Mohar also describes his approach to sound design at the start of each new project, starting with the story and then, like the songs he used to play in the band, digging down deep to find its truth and emotional core.
