Cable broadband with Worldwide DOCSIS technology
With more than 20 million units delivered worldwide since 2017, Technicolor is the global industry leader for DOCSIS 3.1 home gateways integrating Wi-Fi 6 and RDK-B technologies. Our DOCSIS 3.1 gateways provide superior services with unique and patented solutions, customized designs and targeted technical functionalities, security and scalability, all as a result of extensive technology knowledge, experience in testing to high standards, and deep partnerships with leading service providers.
Leading DOCSIS technology with over 20 years industry experience
Technicolor has led the cable broadband industry since 1999, with the first-to-market CableLabs DOCSIS 1.0 certified modem, followed by DOCSIS 1.1, Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 certified gateway, the first DOCSIS 3.0 and the first DOCSIS 3.1 certified modem in 2016. From simple cable modems to the addition of telephony, wireless and IoT interfaces, to a full ecosystem of partners through our HERO Program, we have kept delivering innovative products over the years.
Whether it is IoT, faster Ethernet ports, better antenna designs, the latest wireless technology or open software, our R&D team is constantly working on the latest technological advances, unique features and designs – and striving to bring them to the market quickly.
At Technicolor, we make our DOCSIS 3.1 and beyond so secure that hackers cannot execute their software. We leverage our set-top-box knowledge to protect our broadband devices the same as we would protect video devices and content.
Our unique antenna design and positioning is a real improvement on industry standards. Many comparative tests in our Wi-Fi test houses, for example, have shown that our patented designs outperform others regularly. Operators can verify for themselves and by selecting Technicolor DOCSIS 3.1 gateways, their subscribers can enjoy better wireless coverage and performance, which reduces churn and minimizes support calls.
Technicolor is the founder of RDK-B, the industry standard software for cable broadband devices that is now expanding to other access technologies. We donated millions of software code lines in 2014 – and now most DOCSIS 3.1 gateways on the planet run with this software. RDK-B provides the openness and flexibility to add apps that operators are looking for to enhance their offerings with value added services, such as parental controls, internet attack protection, and wireless mesh technologies.
Trustful relationships with service providers
Technicolor serves the largest operators on the planet, building deep relationships with them and capturing their needs in every detail. From our established experience in understanding requirements to our testing to the highest standards, we ensure that we deliver the most advanced and reliable products.
