Craig Mann

Sound Re-recording Mixer

Technicolor Los Angeles Sound Re-recording Mixers

Craig joined Technicolor’s team in 2012, with over 15 years of sound industry experience under his belt. His work can be heard on a number of popular films, including Insidious, Paranormal Activity 4, and Whiplash, for which he won the Oscar for Sound Mixing and BAFTA for Sound along with fellow sound re-recording mixer Ben Wilkins and production sound mixer Thomas Curley. Craig is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

After completing the Music Engineering program, Music Industry Arts at Fanshawe College in London Ontario, Craig was hired at Sound Ideas, where he began recording and editing sound effects. While there, his interest peaked about sound for film, so he joined Casablanca Sound in Toronto. There, he worked as an assistant to several of the top re-recording mixers in Canada. After five years there, an opportunity arose to visit a few sound facilities in Los Angeles, and Craig realized that moving to the next level would involve a change of venue. He relocated to Santa Monica and was hired at Todd-AO. Over the next 8 years, Craig served as an apprentice for several world-renowned mixers, soon taking the leap into mixing himself in 2009.

Discovering new ways to utilize sound to its fullest potential to help bring filmmakers’ vision to the screen is what Craig loves most about his job. The best advice Craig has been given is to “question everything”, which has led Craig to achieve perfection in his work.

Craig is excited to see the future integration of Euphonix, Pro Tools and Media Composer in his career. He believes that being able to move seamlessly between these platforms will streamline the entire post production process.

One highlight of Craig’s career so far has been his creative contribution to the documentary Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest. Tribe was one of his favorite bands growing up, so the success of the documentary made it a stand out moment for Craig.
