Kurt Reid began his career as a tape room operator and Telecine sync operator at Magnetic North. As a freelance graphic designer, he gained valuable experience building client relationships and interpreting client needs in order to deliver quality results in the most quick and efficient manner. As an experienced colorist, Kurt combines valuable artistic skills with strong technical aptitude and working knowledge of his toolset to best achieve goals and creative vision.
A pivotal moment in his career came with the opportunity to work on a feature film with Director of Photography Shelly Johnson (Captain America: The First Avenger, Jurassic Park III).
“Shelly would meet with me in the color suite every evening after that day’s shoot to go over the footage and guide me through his vision. It turned into an amazing working relationship where I gained valuable creative and technical experience,” he says.
Other noteworthy projects in his portfolio include: Guillermo del Toro’s Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark (2019), as well as the director’s FX series The Strain (2014-2017); Christoph Waltz’s Georgetown (2019); Alexander Payne’s Downsizing (2017); Nia Vardalos’ My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016); and David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars (2014).
