Get into the Holiday Season with Some of This Year’s Most Creative Holiday Spots

Technicolor’s creative studios – Moving Picture Company (MPC), The Mill, and Mikros MPC – provide VFX, Color and Production services to an array of cheerful holiday ad campaigns.

The holiday season is officially upon us. All around the globe, people gather to celebrate with family and friends. This year, we invite you to get in the spirit of the season by watching a few of this year’s most cheerful and festive holiday commercials. 

Settle in, grab a cup of hot cocoa, and get ready to be hit with the holiday spirit.

Amazon 2019

Many people turn to Amazon for easy shopping in the comfort of their own homes. Technicolor’s The Mill partnered with Lucky Generals to create this 2019 colorful and playful spot that tugs the heartstrings and features Amazon’s singing delivery boxes.  VFX and Color by The Mill.

Coca-Cola: What We Share is Stronger

Coca-Cola has a long history of outstanding holiday commercials. Who can forget the vintage Santa enjoying a coke (and a smile) or their polar bear campaign? This year Coca-Cola continues their tradition of cheerful and playful ads by teaming with MPC to feature another view of the man who sneaks into people's homes to leave packages.  MPC provided VFX including the fully CG reindeer shots.

Save The Bees: Galeries Lafayette and Fondation de France

Undeniably one of the ‘best dressed for the holidays’ department stores in Paris, Galeries Lafayette teamed with Fondation de France and Mikros MPC this year on a very unique Save the Bees campaign. It includes gorgeous holiday decorations at the Paris store, a very hip Bee Instagram Influencer, and a goal to help Save Bees from Extinction. Now that’s a holiday gift that keeps on giving.  Don’t forget to check out their Instagram account.  VFX (including the totally CG bee) and color by Mikros MPC.

TJX: Follow Me

reat gifts at even better prices? Sign us up. For this holiday season, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods stores partnered with Partizan, McCann NY and The Mill on their ‘Follow Me’ campaign. With the tagline “Spend Less, Gift Better” – we think they’re on to something.  Color and VFX by The Mill.

Tesco: Christmas 2019 #DeliveryChristmas

MPC teamed with BBH London and Stink director, Traktor, on an appetizing, mouthwatering spot that follows the journey of Joel, a Tesco delivery driver making his final deliveries before Christmas. Color grade by Jean-Clément Soret and VFX by MPC.

E.LeClerc: Le Casse Tete de Noel

For our French speaking family, we have an appetizing 2019 holiday spot for E.Leclerc which illustrates the joys of having a table full of delightful holiday treats sure to appease even the pickiest eaters in your family. Mikros MPC delivered Previsualization, VFX and Color on this spot.

Starbucks Holiday 2019

Hooked on Eggnog Lattes? We are too. But for this 2019 Starbucks holiday spot, The Mill partnered with Big Spaceship to dial up Starbucks Peppermint Mocha. The spot was directed by The Mill’s Donnie Bauer and features Production, VFX and  Color from The Mill – and classic holiday music and the iconic Starbucks cup. Are you thirsty yet?

DICK’S Sporting Goods: The New Kid

 ‘The New Kid’ is a charming story about DICK’s Sporting Goods products coming to life once the store is closed. MPC’s VFX and Animation teams worked closely with Anomoly, Levy and Gluck to bring to life an array of sporting goods, including the ‘new kid’ – a pink and green running shoe that definitely makes it onto our Christmas wish list.

New York Lottery Special Delivery

Everyone can use a bit of extra cash during the holiday season, so what better gift to give than a New York Lottery Scratcher ticket? The Mill director, Ben Smith, and his team worked closely with McCann New York to deliver a charming holiday spot that features an array of CG wildlife who work together to deliver an accidentally dropped scratcher gift. The Mill provided and Production, VFX, Color and Editorial.

Target: Thinking of You

For 2019, The Mill partnered with Mother New York and Radical Media to showcase Target’s holiday offerings in an eclectic and inclusive spot. With The Mill delivering VFX and Color – and the tagline “Whatever you give, however you gather… we are thinking of you” – it has us thinking Target may be the best one-stop shop for all of our holiday needs.

Marks & Spencer: Go Jumpers for Christmas

Directed by Jake Nava and featuring VFX from MPC, this Marks & Spencer 2019 energetic Christmas advert is set to the iconic House of Pain track “Jump Around.” The spot shows off 50 different jumpers from the nation's biggest knitwear retailer. And it’s so effective, we’re totally ready to “Get out of our seats and jump around.”

Ralph Lauren Fragrances Holiday 2019

Decking the halls with more than boughs of holly, this 2019 Ralph Lauren ad features Production, VFX, and Color by The Mill. The spot showcases a tuxedo wearing teddy bear and an array of classic Ralph Lauren fragrances.

M&S: This is Not Just Food…This is M&S Christmas Food

Set to a choral rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s Albatross, this year’s Christmas campaign sees Paddy McGuinness and Emma Willis hit a festive market, tasting samples from M&S Food’s Christmas range including a sweet Torched Berry Pavlova, ooey gooey BrieEn Croûte, and the ultimate centerpiece, The Perfect Turkey. VFX and Color by MPC.

Oreo for Santa

Wondering what’s the perfect cookie to leave out for Santa? Look no further than the classic combo of Oreos and milk. For this 2019 spot, The Mill teamed with The Martin Agency and Stink to tell the tale of a rookie elf who is tasked with getting snacks for Santa at a convenience store. Be sure to stock up prior to Christmas Eve. VFX and Color provided by The Mill.

Walkers: All I Want for Christmas

This year, all Mariah Carey wants for Christmas is Walkers chips! The Mill teamed with Abbot Mead Vickers BBDO Ltd and Caviar on this spot featuring the iconic Mariah Carey and her epic song, “All I Want for Christmas.”
