New Deployments Strengthen Technicolor Leadership in Android TV OTT

Service providers capture the opportunities to deliver next-gen entertainment services with Technicolor.

With cloud and IP distribution providing unprecedented flexibility, the dynamics of providing a high quality, differentiated video service offering continue to evolve. In roughly 80 years, we have gone from a couple of channels of over the air broadcast, to purpose-built devices, to virtually an infinite amount of content delivered to a plethora of hybrid devices anywhere, any time.

To cope with the need for flexibility, agility, and adaptability, service providers (SPs) have endorsed Android TV, with 45+ deployments to date around the world – and that number is growing daily.

Technicolor has been the leader in the deployment of Android TV CPE from the outset. A Google Premier Partner for five years, Technicolor has been selected by 29 SPs around the globe as a trusted partner for successful Android TV rollouts. Technicolor has proven time and again the ability to meet, and exceed, the rigorous requirements set by Google for licensing Android for use with Google Play and GMS, while helping SPs build on their branded experience. Technicolor’s expertise allows SPs to deploy IP video streaming services with innovative user experiences in an unrivalled timeframe.

Since the beginning of 2018, Technicolor has facilitated five new STB launches, plus  nine noteworthy software updates with Netflix or Amazon Prime on Android N:

  • Eight Netflix Certifications/Deployments
  • First Amazon Prime STB Certification/Deployment

With this major transition in the video market, Technicolor is at the forefront helping service providers capture the opportunities to deliver next-gen entertainment services.

In one such effort, Technicolor teamed up with Com Hem, one of Sweden's leading suppliers of television, high-speed broadband, and fixed-telephony – along with 3SS (UX/UI front-end) and Verimatrix (revenue security) – to co-present a live interactive webinar titled “Deploying Android TV Operator Tier STBs.” Access the recording and this deep dive discussion here.
