Not Safe For Work, a comedy-drama following the lives of dysfunctional civil servants, was written by award-winning playwright DC Moore. Starring Zawe Ashton, Not Safe For Work was well-received in initial reviews. The Guardian wrote that it is, “both a scathingly funny look at twentysomething life in the 21st century and a love letter to a generation left treading water by a perfect storm of job shortages and rising rent.” Filled with razor-sharp one-liners, Not Safe For Work is not to be missed.
Technicolor’s Dan Coles color-graded the series:
I worked closely with the two Directors and two DOP’s for Channel 4 comedy-drama Not Safe For Work. We wanted the grade to echo the narrative as much as possible, and so went for a muted look with subtle pastel colors and cooler hues to emphasize the mood created by the dull and depressing offices in which most of the series is set. When we venture away from the mundane day to day working life of the civil servants; we allowed more color and warmer tones to creep into the pictures, creating a more naturalistic and filmic feel. The contrast levels and vignettes we applied added depth to the images throughout.
