Post & VFX for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Technicolor's global creative team and MPC provide post and VFX services

Beginning its theatrical run on December 16th, Warner Bros. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, was directed by Guy Ritchie, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams - while featuring a suite of Technicolor’s best-of-class motion picture services.  The London-based production, with additional location photography in France, Switzerland, and various UK sites, follows the further adventures of the world’s most famous sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, and his trusted associate Dr. Watson. 

A Game of Shadows was photographed by Academy-award winning cinematographer, Philippe Rousselot, AFC, ASC.  Technicolor’s Pinewood Studio laboratory and Soho imaging facility provided all front-end laboratory negative developing; HD dailies and telecine; digital intermediate color-grading, performed by freelancer Adam Inglis, and editorial conform by Dominic Thomson, with overall post processes managed by Cherri Arpino and Todd Kleparski.  Technicolor’s John Ensby and Lee Wimer provided final laboratory color-timing.  The company’s Los Angeles-based facilities provided theatrical marketing trailers (16 versions), international versioning and digital cinema mastering and distribution. 

MPC, Technicolor’s London-based visual effects business, created an outstanding array of CG effects, and over 400 shots, to compliment the cinematography and production design.
