Take This Waltz

Sarah Polley’s second feature

Sarah Polley’s second feature Take this Waltz follows the relationship of a contently married couple, Margot (Michelle Williams) and Lou (Seth Rogen) and the threat of Margot’s deepening friendship with a handsome neighbor (Luke Kerby).  Shot in the steaming Toronto summer, Sarah wanted the film to “be like a bowl of fruit.”  Director of Photography, Luc Montpellier, interpreted her vision by having a “hot, colourful, welcoming, beautiful rendering of Toronto and the people within it. She wanted this sexy passion to take over, that every frame felt like it was dripping wet with sweat.”

The film was primarily shot on the Panavision Genesis while the Cannon 5D was used for 2nd unit footage and the Sony 950 HD camera for the underwater pool scene.  Technicolor DI Producers, Darcy Arthurs and Pat Duchesne, oversaw the project through the Toronto facility, providing services including dailies (Mike Dobroski), DI Editorial (Rob Gyorgy), DI grading (Mark Kueper) and final delivery on DCP and film.
