Technicolor Campus

On November 22, Technicolor inaugurated its newest and largest research and development center in Rennes, France. The center is the new home to 550 researchers and developers.

French Minister of Defense Jean Yves Le Drian joined Group CEO Frédéric Rose in unveiling the new premises to researchers, local officials, members of communities and public institutions, and professionals and representatives from the economic sector.

Located just outside Rennes in Cesson Sévigné, the new “Technicolor Campus” will facilitate exchange between researchers and students, as well as with other campuses worldwide, to help develop activities deemed both strategic and crucial.

The new campus provides 18,000 m² of space dedicated to several Research and Development divisions. It will also house development studios and two data treatment centers, composed of 200 servers.

Technicolor employs 400 researchers worldwide, including 200 in Rennes. The remaining researchers are distributed across sites in Issy-les-Moulineaux (France), Hanover (Germany), Beijing (China) and Palo Alto (USA).

During the inauguration ceremony, Technicolor presented several innovations destined for film and media professionals, including a drone to optimize camera movement during shooting; HDR video; and an electronic wristband, known as an emotion sensor, which will help measure a film’s impact on its audience.
