Technicolor Film and TV Projects Reap Golden Globe Nominations

Awards season heats up with The Shape of Water, The Breadwinner, and Stranger Things among the frontrunners, along with a host of other nominees.

  • Among Technicolor projects are three Best Picture nominees, a Best Animated Film nominee, and four Best Television Series nominees.

Technicolor worked on a wide variety of the theatrical releases and television series that picked up Golden Globe nominations this year. They include two pack leaders nominated for Best Picture – Drama: The Shape of Water which led the field of theatrical features with seven nominations, and The Post which garnered six nominations. While both are the work of leading directors – also nominated for Golden Globes – they showcase the best of two distinct genres.

Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water is a hyper-real fairytale romance about a mute cleaning lady and her relationship with a captive amphibian creature. MR. X from the Technicolor family reunited with the director on the project, adding seamless visual effects and creature animation to the visually distinctive, genre-bending masterwork.

Steven Spielberg’s The Post is a fact-based drama about the Pentagon Papers and the woman who made the decision to publish them, Katharine Graham of The Washington Post. Technicolor oversaw the dailies being handled at Technicolor Postworks NY, and also provided the color finishing, which saw Supervising Colorist Michael Hatzer working once again with Spielberg and his acclaimed cinematographer Janusz Kaminski.

Produced by Dick Clark Productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globes are handed out for both film and television. Seth Meyers will host the 75th Golden Globe Awards ceremony from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 7, 2018.
