Technicolor & MPC Talent Oscar Nominations

Technicolor and MPC creative talent have received nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Technicolor and MPC creative talent have received nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Sound Mixing, on the “indie” wonder, Whiplash, and Visual Effects Oscar nominations for Guardians of the Galaxy, supervised by MPC’s Nicolas Aithadi, and for X-Men: Days of Future Past visual effects supervisor Richard Stammers.

Further, Technicolor talent served 24 projects in all that have been nominated for 2014 Academy Awards, including Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),. Birdman was directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and photographed by Academy Award-winner Emmanuel Lubezki, ASC, AMC, both of whom received Oscar nominations for their stunning achievement. The filmmakers worked closely with Technicolor senior supervising digital colorist Steven J. Scott, as well as Technicolor colorist Charles Bunnag who came up with the innovative creative-technical solution that allowed for the seamless “stitching” look given the film’s “one continuous shot” appearance.

Kali Destruction System, developed at MPC London, has also been awarded the Academy Scientific and Technical Achievement Award for MPC’s Ben Cole, to be awarded at a separate ceremony shortly before the Oscars.
