Technicolor Wins At The Emmys®

• Technicolor Sound artists Doug Andham, CAS (Re-Recording Mixer), Joe Earle, CAS (Re-Recording Mixer), and Judah Getz(Re-Recording Mixer) received an Emmy® for Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Limited Series or Movie, for The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story - "From The Ashes of Tragedy".

Up against nominees like Fargo, Sherlock, and The Night Manager, competition for the award was stiff. Andham noted, “We worked hard to shape the sound in such a way to help elevate tension and drama, to put the viewer in that time and space, and support the work of the incredible cast in telling the story.” Technicolor.com spoke with the sound-mixers about their Emmy® win:

EARLE: “The win was epic for our crew, and really a statement about Technicolor Creative Services as a whole.  Our facility is top-notch, from the front offices to the support staff.  We have the best sound supervisors, the most creative editors, and the finest mix crews in town.  Doug Kent, Kevin Spears, and Mark Kaplan personally lead the way in running a tight ship and continue to forge ahead in this very competitive business.  A special shout-out to Gary Megregian, who supervises all of the Ryan Murphy Productions and helps us bring each of his projects to life.  Winning the award is really the icing on the cake.”

ANDHAM: “Working on the show has been one of the best experiences of my career. Everyone involved with the project had to be at the very top of their game. […The show starts against the backdrop of the LA riots and the racial tensions that it brought to the surface, helping to provide perspective on how the case against O.J Simpson unraveled. The sound track in the first episode builds to a crescendo during the riots, and then goes to black and it becomes a slow burn through the rest of the episode, culminating in O.J.'s desperate escape in the Ford Bronco.”

GETZ: “We could not ask for better captains than Doug Kent, Kevin Spears, and Mark Kaplan to be sailing the Technicolor broadcast sound ship. As an ADR Mixer, I can say that we don't always get a ton of recognition, so personally I'm extremely grateful to Joe and Doug for being gracious and willing enough to share a piece of their spotlight with me. I'm honored to not only have been nominated for, and to now have won, an Emmy with Joe and Doug, I'm honored (and amazed) to call them colleagues.”
