Wilhelm.tel renews its voice switching equipment with Technicolor Cirpack

Technicolor today announces it has won, together with its integration partner 3M Services GmbH, a contract with German Telco Wilhelm.tel

Paris (France) – 23 September 2011 – Technicolor (Euronext Paris : TCH) today announces it has won, together with its integration partner 3M Services GmbH, a contract with German Telco Wilhelm.tel for its Cirpack SoftSwitch and SBC (Session Border Controller) solution.

Technicolor was supported by its integration partner 3M Services GmbH, a subsidiary of the 3M Group, represented in more than 70 countries including  in EMEA where it is a premium partner for Technicolor’s Cirpack Voice Switching Solutions.

Wilhelm.tel has been providing Voice over IP services to its subscribers since 2006, with a network supporting around 100,000 subscribers in the city of Norderstedt and the south, including the city of Hamburg. To continue to meet its residential and business subscribers’ needs and improve operational efficiency, Wilhelm.tel decided to replace its existing switches in order to interface to IP customer premises equipment with existing TDM telephone technology as well as VoIP trunking.

“We operate in a very competitive environment, which means we have to deliver in real time an attractive package of functionality to our subscribers,” said Theo Weirich, General Manager of wilhelm.tel. “In a carefully evaluated procurement process, the Technicolor Cirpack solution came out on top, by demonstrating excellent cost effectiveness as well as the required rich functionality.”

“This is another excellent implementation for Cirpack, and we are delighted to start working with Wilhelm.tel” said Romain Waller, VoIP & IPTV General Manager at Technicolor,  “Cirpack is a powerful switch with excellent secure connectivity to other networks, which means it is practical, fast to implement and secure in operation, as well as being a powerful platform from which network operators can launch powerful user features.”

The Cirpack SoftSwitch is in use with more than 100 operators in 35 countries.

The Cirpack SBC functionality provides native VoIP peering, allowing highly secure integration between the local switch and IP trunking networks. End of 2010, Technicolor had implemented its Cirpack SBC at 14 Telcos, representing 6 million users already connected by this solution.
