Technicolor Contributes to the Eerie Tone of The Following

Kevin Williamson’s heart-pounding drama The Following has returned for its third season, and Technicolor is thrilled to contribute to the action-packed Fox series.

Color correction, editorial, titling, mixing, Foley, ADR, and visual effects are among the services provided by Technicolor. Technicolor Postworks New York colorist John Crowley is behind the series’ rich color grading and Bruce Motyer services the editorial needs, while Tyler Thorpe and Caprice Ridgeway handle the in-house producing. Re-recording mixers Pete Elia, CAS, and Kevin Roache, and supervising sound editor Walt Bost work on The Following’s sound.

The Following has been so pleased with Technicolor’s visual effects work that our VFX involvement in the series has increased over the seasons. For its third season, The Following has enlisted Technicolor as the primary facility for their VFX needs. Mark Intravartolo is their go-to VFX supervisor, responsible for helping the eerie serial killer drama look the part.

“Working on The Following is a fantastic experience because the producers give me the freedom to get really creative with the visual effects. Because the series is so dark and twisted, I can experiment with different ideas spanning from gruesome knife wounds to cars engulfed in flames to adding in copious amounts of blood,” explains Intravartolo.

The Following documents the drama surrounding brilliant, yet psychotic serial killer Joe Carroll and the cult of serial killers who follow his every command; the FBI’s attempts to catch and incarcerate him; and the introduction of rival serial killers who try to lure him out of hiding. Tune in to season three to see how the series unfolds.
