A professional sound specialist since 1981, Paul Shubat has contributed to many Juno and Grammy Award-winning album projects and distinguished himself as the re-recording mixer for nearly all 150 episodes of Heartland, Canada’s longest running one-hour TV series.

Paul started at Sounds Interchange, quickly advancing to a senior assistant engineer and then, engineer with DAVE (Dome Audio & Video) some 33 years ago, serving clients with every aspect of sound service. A few years later, he became a re-recording mixer, and Senior Re-recording mixed for Technicolor in Toronto.

Paul has been nominated five times for Gemini awards and four times for MPSE awards. His achievements also include re-recording mixer for director Uli Edel’s feature Pay the Ghost. He has also worked on such features as Status Update (Director – Scott Speer), Kodachrome (Director – Mark Raso) and A Family Man (Director – Mark Williams) and TV series including Wynonna Earp, Indian Detective and Heartland.

With experience spanning the worlds of music, advertising, TV and feature films, Paul has demonstrated consistently his ability to understand clients and translate their vision into creative soundscapes.
