Technicolor Provides A Look At Next-Generation Access & Technologies At INTX 2016

Customers and partners swarmed around the Technicolor booth at the Internet and Television Expo (INTX) 2016 in Boston, MA in mid-May. The booth became a focal point for exciting conversations around DOCSIS 3.1, Wi-Fi, industrial design, and High Dynamic Range (HDR). The exhibit, formerly known as The Cable Show, was renamed two years ago to reflect the growing convergence of television with the Internet. Reinforcing its image as a leading innovator, Technicolor demonstrated a range of leading edge solutions, at its own booth as well as those of partners Rovi and Gainspeed.

High Dynamic Range

The Technicolor demo focused on how content distributors, including Pay-TV operators, broadcasters and OTT providers, can deploy HDR services now while continuing to serve their SDR customer base.

Next Gen. Access

INTX visitors discovered the world’s first DOCSIS 3.1 deployed modem showing live interoperability with Gainspeed’s virtual CCAP solution. Technicolor next-generation DOCSIS 3.1 modems and gateways deliver best-in-class upstream/downstream performance.

Another demonstration highlighted Wi-Fi Doctor™, Technicolor’s Wi-Fi diagnostic tool that helps operators resolve wireless issues in the home and reduce helpdesk calls.

Over-The-Top

A range of hardware and software solutions provided living proof that operators can deliver an OTT experience that is at once unified and scalable. The demonstrations included Android TV-certified set-top boxes, a personalized and intuitive LEA user interface, and Broadpeak’s nanoCDN multicast solution.

Design

Visitors to the design area explored Design Language, Technicolor’s latest user-centered industrial design, as well as such highly integrated and innovative hardware solutions as Cube S and the Baseball sample.
