Christmas ads that tell a tale

It’s that time of year when Christmas ads grace the screens and warm our hearts. The holidays have arrived at Technicolor Group. Let’s take a look at how The Mill helped provide the magic with this year’s festive projects. From creating whimsical mascots, to charming backgrounds using CG, to character animation and color.

M&S’ Magic Spot

The Mill team collaborates once again with Outsider directorial duo Dom&Nic to provide VFX and Color to M&S’ new festive spot. The film features comedy duo Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders as Fairy and Duckie. Discover more about this project here.

Starbucks Share the Cheer

Starbucks celebrates 25 years of the iconic holiday cup with the return of the Starbucks red cup and seasonal beverages. Color and VFX by The Mill. Take a look at the full list of credits from the Chicago studio’s festive collaboration here.

Orange “Magic is a lot of refurbishing” campaign

From motion design, to compositing, to flame and FX, The Mill Paris artists created a multitude of effects in a short time thanks to a meticulous organization. Added to the effects were the combination of sets shot by the Division team, the storytelling written by Publicis, and an art direction by Martin Kalina, gave life to a Christmas tale that will make many dream. SKY Christmas

The VFX team and Mill Colourist Philip Louis Hambi joined forces with director Vaughan Arnell out of Merman and Sky Creative, to highlight the blockbuster coverage that Sky has to offer over the festive season.

The Mill crafted the backgrounds and extended the set in CG, used beauty techniques to create a ‘doll like’ appearance of the globe family and created seamless transitions from inside the globe to the outside world.

Louis Vuitton A Christmas fairytale

This magical film showcases our Parisian artists character animation skillsets and marks the third collaboration between Louis Vuitton and The Mill Paris this year. From photogrammetry, which consists of taking a series of photos to recover the 3D volumes after processing them, to shading of the hair through rigging and animation, our Parisian artists have given life to the two mascots in 3D.
