The Mill and MPC Add Seven 2018 Clio Awards to Their Roster of Trophies

Technicolor creative studios are recognized for achievement in animation, visual effects, and multiple other categories across advertising and design.

The Mill and MPC are once again honored with multiple Clio Awards for their achievements across creative categories, ranging from Animation and Visual Effects to Film Technique and Music Video. The Clio Awards recognize creative excellence and innovation across advertising and design.

The Mill won two Gold awards, three Silver awards, and a Bronze, for a total of six Clio prizes as follows: 

JAY-Z's ‘The Story of O.J.’

  • Gold – Best Music Video
  • Silver – Design
  • Bronze – Animation

The Mill worked with JAY-Z, Roc Nation and Director Mark Romanek via Anonymous Content to create this animated music video. Using hand-drawn cel animation, computer graphics and painted backgrounds, they collaborated with Titmouse to animate the original characters.

Monster.com, ‘Opportunity Roars’

  • Gold – Animation
  • Silver – Visual Effects

The Mill’s New York VFX team joined forces with creative agency KBS and production company MJZ to craft a 100% CGI photo-real monster for Monster.com.

PlayStation, ‘Rivalry’ 

  • Silver – Visual Effects

Teaming up with BBH and Hungry Man Director Wayne McClammy, The Mill alongside Industrial Light & Magic helped to create PlayStation's spot for 'Star Wars: Battlefront II'.

MPC brought the Technicolor family total to seven, winning for:

Apple, ‘Unlock’

  • Silver – Visual Effects

Check out MPC’s VFX work on Dougal Wilson’s spot for Apple’s FaceID feature, which uses facial recognition to unlock the iPhone X.
