Technicolor Clients Receive Major Wins at 83rd Academy Awards and the 27th Film Independent Spirit Awards

Concluding the 2010 motion picture award’s season, Technicolor clients sweep awards

Paris (France) & Hollywood (California) – March 3, 2011 – Concluding the 2010 motion picture award’s season, Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH; NYSE: TCH) clients sweep most of the major awards bestowed during the 83rd Academy Awards and 27th Film Independent “Spirit Awards” presentations over the weekend, representing the major and independent filmmaking communities.

Sunday’s Academy Awards witnessed major wins by The King’s Speech; Inception; The Social Network; The Fighter; Toy Story 3; Alice in Wonderland, and Black Swan.  The common denominator of these Oscar-winning features was that all were served by Technicolor’s industry-leading production, post-production and digital content- distribution services.

Likewise, representing the best of independently produced theatrical features in 2010, Technicolor clients sweep through the major categories, with director Darren Aronofsky winning for Director, Feature, along with his star, Natalie Portman, winning for Best Female Lead for Black Swan.  The Screenplay category was won by director Lisa Cholodenko, and Stuart Blumberg, for their family drama, The Kids Are All Right.  Other major Spirit Awards were shared by 127 Hours actor James Franco; and Winter’s Bone actors John Hawkes and Dale Dickey.

The two most significant wins for Technicolor’s clients were the Oscar received by cinematographer Wally Pfister, ASC, for his stellar work on Inception, and the Spirit Award for Cinematography won by Matty Libatique, ASC, for his stunning work on Black Swan.  Both Pfister and Libatique are major Technicolor customers who availed themselves of Technicolor’s world-class balanced service offering between film acquisition, digital and laboratory color finishing and mastering.
